SYSU MEDebate competition was held last weekend, 28th-29th May in SYSU North Campus. This competition was pioneered and organised by 2 MBBS students, Vyshnavi Desiraju and Junaid Khan, who brought this debate to life with the support of the English Debate Team(Julie, Robin, Liz, Kevin, Iris) and International Student Union, not forgetting the invaluable advice and support from Ms Yana Wang (Medical Ethics Professor) and Ms Liang (ISO Director). There were teams from the 5 batches of students who set aside their busy academic schedule to participate in this exciting competition that got their brains buzzing as they spoke passionately about various topics that spanned from ethical issues to healthcare policies and healthcare systems. This competition successfully achieved its goal of spreading awareness of current medical issues amongst the future doctors, both to the participants and to the audience who came to watch and support their friends during the preliminary rounds as well as the Grand Finals held on Sunday evening. We hope that the 2nd MEDebate and the many in its succession would be just as successful, educative and fun for everyone to join and learn!
