"Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration, Knowing Shaoshan in Guangdong" —— The School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University Went to Shaoshan to Conduct Party Discipline Learning, Education and Training

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and is a crucial year for achieving the goals and tasks of the "14th Five-Year Plan". From April to July, carrying out Party discipline learning and education across the whole Party is an important measure taken by the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core to strengthen the Party's discipline construction and promote the in-depth development of comprehensively and strictly governing the Party.

To deepen the activity of "Tracing the Origins, Studying Ideas and Promoting Practice", and to simultaneously promote learning, understanding, clarifying, observing and maintaining Party discipline, the School of Medicine attached great importance to it and made meticulous plans. During the period from May 24 to May 26, 30 people were organized to go to Shaoshan to carry out Party discipline learning, education and training activities. The trainees covered Party committee members, Party branch secretaries, branch committee members, Party and administrative management personnel, experimental technicians, students and so on. It was hoped that everyone could step out of the campus, truly achieve "teaching through history, teaching through practice and teaching through enjoyment", and be able to learn in practice and practice in learning.

Shaoshan is the hometown of Comrade Mao Zedong and also the spiritual homeland of Chinese Communists. Every blade of grass and every tree here contains profound red genes, and every inch of land witnesses the struggling course of Chinese Communists adhering to their original aspiration and bravely shouldering their mission. The school chose to carry out Party discipline learning, education and training activities here to pursue red memories, inherit red genes, and be inspired by the glorious history of the Party to remain true to our original aspiration, keep our mission firmly in mind and continue to move forward. This Party discipline learning, education and training activity of "Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration · Knowing Shaoshan in Guangdong" is not only a good opportunity to review the history of the Party and remember the Party's struggles, but also an important measure for the Party committee of our school to strengthen Party building, improve the quality of Party members and enhance Party spirit cultivation. During the training process, through visiting red education bases, listening to Party history lectures, carrying out themed Party day activities and other various forms, we will deeply study the history, theories and discipline of the Party, further enhance Party spirit cultivation, strengthen ideals and beliefs, and build a solid ideological defense line against corruption.
On the morning of May 25, the opening ceremony of the training class was held. Comrade Hao Yajuan, the secretary of the Party committee of the School of Medicine, mentioned in her speech that she hoped everyone could cherish this training opportunity, study seriously and think deeply, learn with questions and feelings. At the same time, she required everyone to strictly observe discipline and establish a good image of Party members. Subsequently, Comrade Wang Bin and Comrade Chen Baoyu, deputy secretaries of the Party committee of the school, took over the class flag. All members of the Party discipline learning and education training class of the School of Medicine presented flowers to Chairman Mao in Mao Zedong Square, bowed deeply three times to pay tribute to the great man. Then, under the leadership of Comrade Hao Yajuan, the members renewed their vows of joining the Party. Everyone drew strength and inspired their fighting spirit in the solemn and sonorous vows.

Feeling the red culture and deeply implanting the feelings for the family and the country. The members walked into the Memorial Hall of Comrade Mao Zedong with a feeling of reverence. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that "a museum is a big school". After having a deep understanding of Chairman Mao's life stories, glorious virtues and personality charm, the members felt even more deeply how crucial and great it was that "China has brought forth a Mao Zedong". Wishing to trace the source of the river to the stars, the scenery in Shaoshan is thought-provoking. The trainees walked into the Party History Exhibition Hall of the Special Branch of the Communist Party of China in Shaoshan and the former residence of Comrade Mao Zedong to follow the footprints of the great man and feel the original aspiration and mission. Shaoshan Village is the place where Chairman Mao Zedong was born, grew up and made early revolutionary explorations. Chairman Mao spent his childhood and adolescence here. In the autumn of 1910, believing that "drinking only the water from the well, one will never grow up", Chairman Mao went out to study with the great ambition of saving the country and the people. After that, he returned to Shaoshan many times to educate his relatives to join the revolution. In the exhibitions and on-site teachings, the trainees deeply understood the boundless love of the feelings for the family and the country and felt the passing on of the red genes from generation to generation. With deep affection like dripping water for the family and the country and remaining true to our original aspiration, we bravely move forward. The trainees walked into the Water Dripping Cave. Through watching the objects carrying the great man's memories in the Water Dripping Cave and on-site themed learning, they deeply felt Chairman Mao's patriotic and people-loving feelings of worrying about the world and wholeheartedly serving the people.

After a day of on-site teaching, to promote the education and training to go deeper, reach the heart and be more practical, on the morning of the 26th, the training class invited Comrade Wang Junyao, the former executive vice principal of the Party School of the Shaoshan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, to give special lectures on "Mao Zedong and the Shaoshan Spirit" and "Promoting the In-depth Development of Comprehensively and Strictly Governing the Party with Strict Discipline —— Interpretation of the 'Regulations on Disciplinary Actions of the Communist Party of China' in 2023" for the training class. During the teaching process, everyone appreciated the Shaoshan Spirit of "firm belief, daring to be the first, selfless dedication, united struggle and pioneering and innovating" from Chairman Mao's poems; and clearly defined the red line of discipline from the interpretation of cases and regulations, truly transforming discipline and rules into political consciousness, ideological consciousness and action consciousness.
After the teaching, the Party committee of the school held a monthly regular meeting of Party branch secretaries. The meeting was chaired by Comrade Hao Yajuan, the secretary of the Party committee of the school. Secretary Hao Yajuan conveyed to the participants the recent work requirements of the Party discipline learning and education of the school and the "Key Points of the Work on Ideological and Political Education and Teachers' Ethics and Morality Construction of Sun Yat-sen University in 2024", and carried out serious and solemn warning education on teachers' ethics and morality by taking cases as a warning, providing a solid disciplinary guarantee for writing a new chapter. Professor Cai Weibin, a member of the Party committee of the school, spoke as a representative of the trainees. He mentioned that the content of on-site teaching was both vivid and profound. We appreciated Mao Zedong's grand vision of having the whole world in mind in his great growth process towards becoming a great man, and felt his great feelings of sacrificing his own family for the sake of the larger community. As Party members, we should achieve the "Three Musts" in our work and life. We must remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, we must be modest and prudent and work hard, and we must dare to struggle and be good at struggling. Comrade Wang Bin, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the school, made a concluding speech.
