Multiple peer institutions have visited our college to jointly explore high-quality development in medical education.
Recently, Sun Yat-sen University School of Medicine (SYSU-SM) has engaged in in-depth exchanges with multiple peer institutions on topics such as medical education, discipline development, and talent cultivation, yielding positive outcomes.
1. **Visit from Wenzhou Medical University**
On the morning of November 17, a delegation of nine from Wenzhou Medical University, led by Party Secretary Jin Huanmin and Vice President Shen Xian, visited SYSU-SM. The delegation was warmly received by Professor Kuang Ming, Assistant President of Sun Yat-sen University and Dean of SYSU-SM; Hao Yajuan, Party Secretary of the school; Ye Wei, Director of the Hospital Administration Division; and Vice Deans Zhou Jiaguo and Guo Kaihua, among others.
A discussion was held in the Foreign Guests Reception Room of the Yongsheng Building on the North Campus. Dean Kuang Ming delivered a welcome speech and provided an overview of the development of medical sciences at Sun Yat-sen University. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on medical education, discipline development, faculty development, the construction of national medical centers, and the management models of affiliated hospitals. Key topics included curriculum optimization, enhancement of clinical practice capabilities, and cultivation of scientific research literacy. Following the meeting, the guests visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and expressed that the exchange provided valuable insights for their medical education and management models.
2. **Visit from the School of Computer and Information, Inner Mongolia Medical University**
On the morning of November 20, a delegation of five from the School of Computer and Information at Inner Mongolia Medical University, led by Dean Ning Pengfei, along with program directors Wu Yaqin and Wang Xiaodong, visited SYSU-SM. The delegation was welcomed by Vice Dean Guo Kaihua, Assistant Dean Ding Tao, and several faculty members.
The discussion was held in the Boji Hall of the Science and Technology Building on the North Campus. Vice Dean Guo Kaihua introduced the school’s development history, organizational structure, and research platforms. The two sides focused on the development of the Biomedical Data Science program, discussing faculty allocation, curriculum systems, and practical training bases. They also exchanged ideas on the instructional design and case integration of general artificial intelligence courses. Both parties expressed hope to strengthen collaboration through this exchange, jointly advancing the digital transformation of biomedicine and cultivating interdisciplinary talents.
3. **Visit from the School of Medicine, Jiaying University**
On the morning of November 24, a delegation of seven from the School of Medicine at Jiaying University, led by Party Secretary Zhong Shan, Vice Deans Yao Qianyin and Qiu Bo, visited SYSU-SM under the guidance of Lan Yu, team leader of the Sun Yat-sen University Support Team to Jiaying University. The delegation was received by Party Secretary Hao Yajuan, Vice Dean Guo Kaihua, and Assistant Dean Pan Chaoyun, among others.
The discussion was chaired by Party Secretary Hao Yajuan. Vice Dean Guo Kaihua introduced the school’s research platforms, discipline development, and undergraduate teaching. The two sides then engaged in in-depth discussions on discipline planning, research management, teaching innovation, and undergraduate talent cultivation. They particularly shared experiences in cultivating advantageous disciplines, project applications, and curriculum optimization. The School of Medicine at Jiaying University noted the fruitful outcomes of the visit and expressed hope for continued collaboration to jointly promote the high-quality development of medical education.
Through this series of exchange activities, SYSU-SM has deepened collaborative consensus with multiple institutions, expanded pathways for inter-institutional cooperation, and injected new momentum into advancing high-quality development in medical education and healthcare.
