施松涛教授拥有美国牙医执照并曾在美国国立卫生院附属医院从事临床工作,同时长期从事口腔再生医学及其临床转化方面的研究工作。首次从人体组织中分离鉴定牙髓干细胞、脱落乳牙干细胞、牙周膜干细胞、根尖牙乳头干细胞、肌腱干细胞, 牙龈间充质干细胞等,研究成果被维基百科列为 2003 年度干细胞研究领域的里程碑。
